Metropolitan Region Scheme Minor Amendment 1344/57 Maida Vale Urban Precinct

Closed 28 Nov 2023

Opened 29 Sep 2023

Overview

The Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) is seeking public comment on a proposal to amend the Metropolitan Region Scheme (MRS) for land in the City of Kalamunda.

The amendment proposed to rezone approximately 177.53 ha of land in Maida Vale from the Rural zone to the Urban Deferred zone in the MRS.

The proposed Urban Deferred zone will facilitate future residential and areas of public open space, following the lifting of Urban Deferment, a local scheme amendment, detailed structure planning and subdivision approval.

The Environmental Protection Authority required the proposed MRS amendment to be formally assessed under Division 3 Part IV of the Environmental Protection Act 1986 Act (Assessment No. 2175). A draft Environmental Review Document (with technical appendices) has been undertaken to examine the likely environmental impacts of the amendment if implemented and puts forward proposed environmental mitigation and management measures.

The draft Environmental Review Document (with technical appendices) is being advertised concurrently with the MRS amendment so that comment can be made on both environmental and planning relation matters.

The WAPC certifies that, in its opinion, the proposed amendment does not constitute a substantial alteration to the MRS.
