Notice of Assessment

The Aboriginal Cultural Material Committee (ACMC) will assess Aboriginal heritage place ID 38904, being the Busselton Wetlands, as its meeting on 14 September 2021.

The Busselton Wetlands have importance and significance primarily due to its mythological association with the Wagyl Creation Spirit.

Property owners with land interests that adjoin or intersect any part of the Busselton Wetlands are invited to provide comments that may be relevant to the Committee’s consideration of this matter.

There will be no impacts to land ownership or access as a result of the Committee’s assessment. However, any future activities that are likely to damage, excavate or alter the associated rivers, their banks, wetlands and tributaries may require approval under the Aboriginal Heritage Act 1972.
