Overview

The Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage (on behalf of the Western Australian Planning Commission) is seeking public comment on the Yanchep Station Development Application that proposes:

  • a new end of line station which includes a ground-level concourse and station building to connect both sides of the development, with two platforms located in a cutting
  • a new bus interchange facility and bicycle parking infrastructure
  • a new road network to provide access to the station and bus interchange
  • a dedicated passenger drop off area and a park and ride facility with approximately 1000 bays.

The Yanchep Rail Extension will deliver the last proposed section of the Joondalup Line from Butler, 14.5km north to Yanchep to help support ongoing growth in the area and reduce congestion.

Yanchep Station will be approximately 49 minutes from the CBD by train and will become the heart of Perth’s newest strategic business centre. The project will help develop the Yanchep activity centre by stimulating new employment opportunities and supporting higher density land use for residential and commercial purposes.

In December 2019, the NEWest Alliance was announced as the successful Alliance to deliver the Yanchep Rail Extension.
