Overview

The Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage (on behalf of the Western Australian Planning Commission) is seeking public comment on the Alkimos Station Development Application that proposes:

  • a new universally accessible station
  • a new bus interchange facility and bicycle parking infrastructure
  • a new road network to provide access to the station and bus interchange
  • a dedicated passenger drop off area and a park and ride facility with approximately 600 bays.

The Yanchep Rail Extension will deliver the last proposed section of the Joondalup Line from Butler, 14.5km north to Yanchep to help support ongoing growth in the area and reduce congestion.

Approximately 41 minutes from Perth by train, Alkimos Station will serve the future Alkimos Central development, which has been master planned by DevelopmentWA to provide much needed service amenities to the area. The project will help develop the Alkimos activity center by stimulating new employment opportunities and supporting higher density land use for residential and commercial purposes.

In December 2019, the NEWest Alliance was announced as the successful Alliance to deliver the Yanchep Rail Extension.
