Overview

State Planning Policy 5.4 Road and Rail Noise and associated guidelines (SPP 5.4) is the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) policy for minimising the impact of road and rail noise on noise-sensitive land uses; and protecting the functionality of the State’s key transport corridors.

Why your views matter

The WAPC is seeking your comment on proposed changes to State Planning Policy 5.4 Road and Rail Noise and associated guidelines.

The review of SPP 5.4 has been undertaken following a comprehensive problem definition phase that examined the impact of road and rail noise on adjacent land uses. The policy review has been overseen by a sub-committee of the WAPC and supported by a Technical Working Group comprising relevant government and industry stakeholders, and informed by technical acoustic analysis.
